Following Examination Instructions

Students must READ and FOLLOW the instructions printed on the front of their examination question papers, paying particular attention to the use of answer booklets. Students failing to follow these instructions may not have their scripts marked.

Correct Completion of Machine Marked Answer Sheets

Students who no complete their pink machine marked multiple choice answer sheets correctly may lose some of all of their marks. For complete information please see the Instructions on the use of machine marked answer sheets. The following points should be noted:

  • Bring 2B pencils to the exam for use on the sheet. Do not use biro or ink as it is impossible to erase if you should change your answer. Do not use liquid paper.
  • Put another sheet of paper under the answer sheet when you are filling in the circles.
  • Fill each circle COMPLETELY. Incompletely filled circles may be marked as incorrect. Do not cross out a mistake. You must erase it.
  • You MUST enter your name and identification number in the correct field. Each field has 2 parts: one with letters or numbers and the other machine readable circles. You must complete BOTH parts.
  • The name field must be in the order: Family name, Given name and Initial. Leave a BLANK column between Family name, Given name and Initial (see example in Instructions on the use of machine marked answer sheets). If you do not identify your answer sheet correctly we may not be able to credit the marks to you.

Special Consideration and Supplementary Examinations

Students who are prevented by unavoidable disruption from completing any of the work required to complete a unit should report the circumstances in writing. Where students were prevented by unavoidable disruption from attending an examination or prior to or during an examination were affected by unavoidable disruption which they believe prejudiced their performance, they should report the circumstances in writing. (Macquarie University Calendar 2003)

Any request for special consideration must be submitted in writing within TWO DAYS of the original examination

Students should refer to Special Consideration Procedures. Please note that both the Special Consideration Application Form and the Professional Authority Form, must also be completed. A medical certificate alone is considered inadequate. These forms must be submitted to the MAcc office, E4A Level 2 Reception, NOT at the Student Enquiry Centre in the Lincoln building.

Advance notice is required if students know they will be unable to attend an examination due to special circumstances. You are advised that it is Macquarie University policy not to set early examinations. All students are expected to ensure that they are available until the final day of the official examination period.

Supplementary examinations are not granted automatically. Each request for Special Consideration is considered on its merits. You will only be granted special consideration in a unit if you have satisfactory coursework results and a satisfactory attendance record in that unit.
